Projects/Series
The sky's green
exploring celebration of American joy, juxtaposing decay such as cultural and environmental decline.
Celebrations feel distant and that once familiar scene takes on an apocalyptic and unnatural tone.
The inspiration partially stems from the natural sense of detachment that comes with senescence.
Shelf life
A series I started about objects left on shelves or behind in some way. Whether waiting to be purchased or studied,
these forgotten items deserve another look. My goal is to give new meaning to things that have quietly faded into the background.
forgetting
We don't remember people perfectly, but we do remember the space they occupied.
Throughout our lives we leave pieces of ourselves everywhere and all the time. Most of the moments that shape us eventually fade from memory, but the emotions they created and the changes they caused remain. Forgetting imagines what memory looks like after the details disappear and you're left wondering .. "was that a dream or did it really happen?"
Stagecraft
This series contains artistic depictions of nudity and adult performance.
Much of my work is rooted in reexamining subjects that are easily dismissed or misunderstood. In this series, I turn that attention toward performers whose identities are often overshadowed by the environments they work in. These photographs seek not to define them by their profession, but to recognize the individuality, presence, complexity and power that remain when assumptions are set aside.
